Dad called today. Mom said he didnt sound right. Like he was sick or something. She asked him to come home. But he said he was ok. Just a little tired. Hes been there since Monday. Part of a volunteer rescue team. Theyve been working around the clock.

I didnt even know he was gone. Mom called me Tuesday. I immediately went home. Kept her company. Then I came back here today. Just to pick up the mail. Water the plants. And I missed his call. Damn it. I wanted to hear his voice. He left without saying goodbye.

Im watching Helena. Shes in my bed. I bumped into her after mom called. Her sister ran away again. So I helped her search. We tried the usual hangouts. But had no luck. It was getting dark. Helena was exhausted. So I let her crash here.

We fell asleep facing each other. But I wasnt really asleep. I heard her wake up. Mumble something in Russian. Then kiss my cheek. It seemed innocent. But then she twisted around. Pressed her body back into mine.
